Every cargo box that fits the Bullitt — compared

March 19, 2026

The Bullitt's cargo area is empty by design. What you put on it depends on what you're carrying, how much you're spending, and how much flexibility you need.

There are more options than most people realize. Here's how they compare.

The materials

Plywood / wood composites. Rad3, Hardus, and Customz work in this space. Plywood boxes are popular for their warmth, repairability, and the fact that they can be customized with basic tools. The trade-off is weight and weather exposure — though most are treated or coated.

Aluminum. Rhino Berlin builds aluminum cargo boxes. Heavy, but virtually indestructible and maintenance-free.

Recycled plastic. MORE Cargobike in Berlin makes their CARGOBOX from recycled plastic — a middle ground between the weight of wood and the durability of metal.

Fabric / soft containers. ERTZ, Radical Design, Dyed in the Wool, and Fahrer make soft bags and containers. They fold flat when empty and weigh very little. The compromise: no rigid structure for heavy or upright loads.

For families

If you're carrying kids, the box is only half the equation — you also need seating and safety.

Rad3 KidsBox — Plywood construction with integrated ISOFIX mounts. Available for the standard Bullitt and the Bullitt X. Made in Germany.

Hardus Craftmen / Craftmen X — Plywood boxes with a modular design that accepts various inserts. Made in Germany.

Larry vs Harry Side Panels — The official LvH option. Side panels that bolt onto the Bullitt's cargo area rails.

For deliveries and business

CabrioBox Cabrio X — A large-volume box with a roll-top cover for weather protection. Designed for the Bullitt X. Made in France.

MORE CARGOBOX Bullitt — Recycled plastic, integrated lock mount. Made in Berlin.

Rhino Cargo Box — Aluminum construction, powder-coated. The heavy-duty option. Made in Berlin.

For daily commuting

Radical Design Bullitt Bag V2 — High capacity with MOLLE attachment points. Folds when empty. Made in the Netherlands.

ERTZ Bullitt Bag — Hand-sewn in Hungary. Doubles as a shoulder bag off the bike.

Fahrer Hood / Bowl — Soft bags that integrate with the Bullitt's rail system. Fold flat. Made in Berlin.

Dyed in the Wool Cargo Bag — Cordura construction from Poland. Durable and waterproof.

For the open deck

Customz Lastplatta — Laser-cut wooden loading boards from Sweden. A clean flat surface when you don't want a box at all.

How to choose

Three questions:

1. What are you carrying? Kids need rigid boxes with safety features. Groceries work fine with soft bags. Deliveries need volume and weather protection.

2. Do you need it to fold? Soft bags fold flat when empty. Rigid boxes stay on permanently.

3. What's your Bullitt model? Not every product fits every model. The Bullitt X has a longer cargo area. Check compatibility before buying.
